Do you know Michael?

You should. Michael Schmidt is fighting the fight the rest of us wish we had the courage to fight. Some might think its about the right to drink raw milk but it goes so much deeper than that. Michael is leading the way against big government who believe in far too many countries that it is their job to tell us how to run our lives.

We are fortunate (so far) here in Illinois in regards to the sales of raw milk. It can be done by the farmer as long as you, the consume,r come to our farms with your own containers. I cannot advertise that I sell raw milk but the minute you step on my property I can tell you all about it, including how much it is...and I will. There is also no law stopping our current customers from advertising our raw milk.  They can tell all their friends.  A few hoops to jump through but none like Michael has to endure.

On day 19 of his hunger strike Michael looks exhausted. He is willing to die for this cause. How far would you go to change a law that threatens your freedom ? Take a moment or ten and read about this special person. Let me know your thoughts.  http://thebovine.wordpress.com/

  2. I have been following his plight for some time now. He and the others fighting for our food freedoms are truly inspirational. His actions have helped me to really see that when i think-- 'somebody should do something about x' -that somebody is me, and you, and you-otherwise we get what ever is leftover, whatever somebody else thinks we deserve

  3. 'Nanny State' politics exists in most countries. Who the hell do these people think they are? They get elected by lying to the electorate, get put into powerful jobs they nothing about, then tell us how we should be living our lives. I do my best to ignore them!

  5. Zan, a radio interview would be great. If you follow all the contact info on The Bovine Press I'm sure you'll be able to reach him. His plight right now, is very serious.

    Hickchic, you are so right.

Cro, I too ignore that which should be and I pick and choose my battles. This raw milk battle is of course close to our hearts here.

John, yes, why can't we be treated like adults? Because if our government admitted that we didn't NEED them in all aspects of our lives, they would have to go out and get real jobs with real work. Can't have that, can we ?

  6. I grew up in Pike County, IL. We had 3 cows, drank raw milk, made butter from the cream, sold the butter.
With the lack of disease and the high standards of cleanliness, why would the government interfere with the sale of raw milk? Crazy Big-Brotherism, my thought.

  7. Where do we live? This is peace and freedom? Sometimes, I'm just so disgusted.

  8. Susan. like me, you are trying to apply logic to government. Never shall the two meet. Statistically you are far more likely to fall off your front step break your neck and die before you will ever become ill from drinking raw milk. But again, since when did our government ever base decisions on real evidence?
