Old Woman Winter

Welcome again to Farmhouse Fridays at The Renegade Farmer. http://www.therenegadefarmer.com/  Read all about it and then be sure to hop around and check out other farm blogs from their site. Now back to my simple Friday Post.

Living and working on a farm in winter...a bit of a challenge, it is also beautiful and peaceful in its own way.

  1. You have got a LOT of snow! Here I am in Utah and there hasn't been even an inch of snow all winter.

  4. Brrrrrr...but love that hat! I'm fascinated by the farm photos and landscape. We have the same amount of snow but, where you live, it looks so...flat! This Yankee gal is just not used to it! LOL

  6. Love these photos Donna. I have always had a secret wish to spend time working on a farm. I don't kid myself that it would be easy... but it sometimes I fantasize about going over there and doing a few weeks volunteer work with you. Have you ever thought of getting into farm volunteer holidays? Love the photos of you!! xo Jen

  7. Karen. oddly the weather has been warmer than normal. We get snow, it drifts since we live on a hill and looks impressive, then melts that night. Tomorrow we are back in the fifties again! (No, I do not beleive in global warming)

Briny, you got them all WELL DONE. I feel a new contest coming on Hmmmm

Doug, without you my blog would just make sense. "Sastrugi" will definately be the name of the next Red Wattle we keep for breeding

Camille, thank you. The hat was from youngest son,21, and his wife for Christmas. Other mothers get bath salts, I get fuzzy hats and that makes me HAPPY.

Crazy, thank you, but they are still a far reach from yours. ONE DAY I will take a class or something.

Cro, you seem to me man enough to take a little snow, now BUCK UP ! And if you want to snort what Briny is snorting you'll probably have to buy some of her soap first. She's one of those people you know

Jen, please come. The guest room is ready. Yes, we have thought about farm holidays here. Since the farm has not yet sold we might as well. At least I'll have enough guest soaps if we do!

  11. Lovely photos of snowy scenes. We had so much snow here last year and haven't had any at all this year and enjoying its absence! Enjoyed your post on the farrowing - as the saying goes 'where there's life, there's death' and that's the risk we all take. There will always be deaths on farms, it is just trying to prevent as many as possible isn't it without spending too much money and effort on those that are never going to be viable.
