Medusa Lives

Really ? You thought it was windy at YOUR house today?!? We had wind gusts layered over wind gusts topped off by gusty winds that made it a big pain in the keester to get chores done today. Bad enough for me but 10 times worse for Keith who is on the lighter side. All he needed was a bicycle with a basket for the scene to be complete.

Now you know why I no longer actually have a hair "do". 18 months ago when I left the land of the well paid and highly stressed I also gave up keeping my hair styled and colored. The primary reason was cost; getting frequent trims, buying all the hair products, pretending I wasn't grey...all adds up. The secondary reason was convenience. Already married to a guy who could care less how I wore my hair I decided to grow it long again and just wear it in a ponytail or a bun. Takes 2 minutes every morning. It may not be all that attractive but its kind of nice to know that at age 52 I can still achieve the "tousled tresses" look.

Even poor Fannie struggled with her looks today and by mid morning looked like an astronaut during G-force training drill

The barns took a beating as well. Sliding doors became swinging doors

Fortunately a few weeks ago I asked Keith to put a post by the back door to help keep the door from blowing off into Chicago. So he rammed a metal post in the ground and covered it with a Nice piece of white PVC pipe. No reason a post out of nowhere can't be attractive is there?

So once again when folks ask us what's it like to be self supporting and totally sustainable? We tell them the truth.

 It's a breeze.

  8. Poor Miss Fannie. We are only 2 hours from you and our winds were just terrible. Listened to the wind moan in our chimney all day - kind of scary. Hope today the wind is better at your house, at least it is here.
